On 12 October 2005 the automatic Windows Update system started downloading and installing several updates, including the one identified by Microsoft as KB896688.
Update 896688 causes Cardbox to be unable to run macros: the message reported is "Macro tried to create an object of an unsafe or unlicensed type".
Build 4207 of Cardbox will be available for download tomorrow (Friday) and it circumvents Microsoft's bug. If you use macros in Cardbox (they are part of the Professional Edition only) then you should turn off automatic installation of Windows updates until you have downloaded and installed the new build of Cardbox.
Our thanks to Shaun Seager for reporting this problem quickly and clearly. A search of Google Groups shows that KB896688 is causing trouble for many software products, so we are glad to have had the opportunity to make Cardbox immune to it early on.
