I have inherited the admnistration of a Cardbox 3.0 database with no manual and little technical knowledge. Is there an easy way to do a back up? Can you do something that will save to a memory stick?....
Thanks in advance
Close Cardbox. Copy then your .fmt+.fil file to a stick. Your database is then even to use on that stick! Where are these files on your disk? Look in Cardbox to menu windows, Properties. With Win Explorer you can copy the files, also when you need a restore.
Extra option you can do inside Cardbox: menu File - Export - Cardbox internal format. Follow the buttons, save the (.dmp) file to your stick.
When you do also this (save!), there is also a check when the file is written on (almost impossible) errors in your database. When there is one you get a warning.
When a restore is needed, need your .fmt file, make with this a new (empty) database and import (file - import file) then your .dmp file.
Not the most difficult part of Cardbox.
If your need a manual: look at http://www.cardbox.com/support/documentation.htm (the Cardbox Book).
