Opening up an internet map

I need a macro to copy the post code field, open IE, go to www.multimap.com and search for that post code.

I need a macro to copy the post code field, open IE, go to www.multimap.com and search for that post code.

When I am recording a macro, I get as far as making it copy the post code field, but it does not register anything I do outside of cardbox.

Does anyone know how I would do this?

I know it is possible, because the database I used in a previous job had that function.

Thank you for your assistance.

Did you ever get this one solved ? I'd love to find out how to do this too.

Unfortunately not.

I'd love to know too! I have no idea how to get a cardbox macro to control outside programs such as internet explorer.

There is a database called Bond Adapt that I know has this feature, so it is possible.

If you read the book which is suggested in Cardbox Help (VBScript in a Nutshell), it give some hints how to connect with IE in VB Script.

Cardbox Macros can use/use the complete vbscript language. So, in my opinion there are possibilities to develope such a thing.

I do not have a example now, but I will look if I can find something (if I can find time).

Hi all,

I am still really interested in a feature of this kind. My own research has just led me down a lot of vbscript language that is very far over my head though.

Like this?

(In The Netherlands it works.)
po = name of field post code. , so change it.

x = fields("po")
x =replace(x," ","") 'remove spaces in postoce

launch "iexplore","http://www.bing.com/maps/?q=" & x,cbxWindowStateMaximize

Thanks bert.

I would like to use google maps, but I cannot get it to work.

I changed it to:

x = fields("postcode")
x =replace(x," ","") 'remove spaces in postoce

launch "iexplore","http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl?q=" & x,cbxWindowStateMaximize

It opened google maps, and the address bar actually had the relevant post code in it, but the map did not search for it.

I read:

I need a macro to copy the post code field, open IE, go to www.multimap.com and search for that post code.

Sorry that I did understand it...

I tried:

launch "iexplore","http://maps.google.co.uk&q=" & x,cbxWindowStateMaximize

Works for UK postal codes well.
Not with Dutch codes. Therefore you need maps.google.nl.

Without a doubt there will be a smarter code which you can use on google.com. But I'me not a google api-expert.

Oh sorry bert, I didn't check my original post, my apologies.

Thank you for that.

I couldn't get that to work, but I had a little play about and came up with this, which does work for me:

launch "iexplore","http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=" & x,cbxWindowStateMaximize
